VIP in insurance: development and evaluation of a lifestyle intervention to reduce stress in office workers

Background

Starting date: 01/10/2009 The past decades, the intensification of work has increased substantially. Consequently, the prevalence of stress symptoms at work has increased as well. Stress symptoms are an important cause of sick leave in office workers. Reducing stress at work will be beneficial for employees, as well as for employers. Lifestyle interventions offer opportunities to improve capacity to cope with stress, e.g., relaxation techniques. Relaxation techniques may be based on either physical activity or relaxation. Recent research has shown that relaxation techniques improved health status, and physical activity programs were effective in improving stress tolerance.
