Charlotte Vrinten studied medicine (MSc), psychology (BSc) and philosophy (BA) at Utrecht University. Her theses were about diabetes treatment and quality of life in the Dutch elderly population and the role of moral responsibility for disease in the treatment of overweight and obese diabetes patients.
She is currently writing up her PhD thesis about n=1 trials for off-label medicines for rare neuromuscular disorders. Her professional interests include medical ethics, healthcare policy making, efficacy of medical treatment, and non-communicable diseases. In addition, she works as a Research Assistant on a project about the role of cancer fear in cancer screening and help-seeking at the Health Behaviour Research Centre, UCL, London, UK.
