Heleen  Beckerman

Heleen Beckerman is senior researcher at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam. She is a licensed physiotherapist (University of Professional Education Utrecht, 1983) and received a MSc in Health Sciences (1988) at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, with a major in Epidemiology. In 1996, she obtained a PhD for her thesis on The Efficacy of Thermocoagulation and an Ankle-Foot Orthosis in Stroke Patients. At the EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research, Heleen Beckerman participated in the Clinimetric Working Group (chair: Riekie de Vet), the Prediction Working Group (chair: Daniëlle van der Windt), and is a senior staff member of the Musculoskeletal Health Research Programme.

At the MOVE Research Institute, of which she is also a senior staff member, she was member of Scientific Committee and reviewed the clinical epidemiological quality of research proposals. Other memberships of Heleen Beckerman are The Netherlands Epidemiology Society, Royal Dutch Society for Physiotherapy (KNGF), the Dutch Society for Public Health and Sciences, and the RIMS Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis European Network for Best Practices and Research.
