Personal information

Ankie Seiger is a PhD candidate of the department of Health Sciences of the VU University in Amsterdam. She works on a study called the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of Percutaneous Transforaminal Endoscopic Discectomy (PTED) vs. open microdiscectomy for patients with a lumbar disc herniation. This study is funded by ZonMw.

In 2009, Ankie Seiger earned her physiotherapy bachelor degree and worked as a physiotherapist in the primary care sector until 2015. 

In 2011, she started her own company called FitCare for you. Here she worked as a physiotherapist and she developped physical/mental activity programs for maladjusted teenagers. 

In 2013, Ankie Seiger finished her master degree of human movement sciences.

In 2014, Ankie stopped working for her company and started working at the VU University. She started on a project called the NeckStudy, which was an implementation study for manual therapy in the primary care for patients with neck complaints. Ankie worked on this project for more than one year.

Since January 2016, Ankie signed her four-year contract as a PhD candidate. The main studie that she will perform during these years is the PTED-study. More information on the PTED project can be found on
